Boat Canvas Singapore — Custom Marine Covers Fabricated to Fit Your Vessel

Custom boat canvas fabrication for yachts, sailboats, and motorboats across Singapore. Sunbrella marine-grade fabric. Measured at your marina berth. Built to handle equatorial sun, salt spray, and tropical storms.

Marine Canvas Services for Singapore Boat Owners

Boat canvas in Singapore faces conditions that would destroy fabric designed for temperate climates. With a UV index that regularly exceeds 12, year-round humidity above 80%, salt-laden air from the Straits and South China Sea, and sudden squalls that dump rain horizontally, every cover, enclosure, and cushion on your vessel needs to be fabricated from materials specifically engineered for tropical marine environments.

Lion City Canvas specialises in custom boat canvas fabrication for the Singapore boating community. We design, pattern, sew, and install every type of soft cover and enclosure — from bimini top replacements to full cockpit enclosures with clear PVC windows, mooring covers that protect your boat between weekends, and helm station covers that keep electronics dry.

Every piece we fabricate is made from Sunbrella marine-grade acrylic — the same fabric specified by yacht builders like Beneteau, Jeanneau, and Princess. Unlike polyester or cheap canvas, Sunbrella is solution-dyed (colour goes through the entire fibre, not just the surface) which means it will not fade even under Singapore's relentless equatorial sun.

Yachts at Singapore marina — we visit your berth for measurement

Our Marine Canvas Process

1

Marina Visit and Measurement

We visit your boat at its berth — anywhere in Singapore. Our fabricator takes precise measurements, photographs the existing canvas or bare frame, and discusses your requirements. This visit is free and takes 30-60 minutes.

2

Design and Quotation

Within 48 hours of the marina visit, we send a detailed quotation with fabric recommendations, colour options, and a description of the proposed design. We advise on details like window placement, zip versus snap closures, and ventilation panel positioning.

3

Workshop Fabrication

Every piece is cut, sewn, and assembled in our workshop. We use industrial walking-foot sewing machines with bonded polyester thread rated for marine UV exposure. Seams are double-stitched and sealed. Hardware is 316 marine-grade stainless steel — the only grade that resists Singapore's salt air.

4

On-Boat Fitting and Installation

We return to your marina berth for fitting. Every panel is tested for fit, tension, and water runoff. Snaps, zips, and fasteners are installed on-site. We adjust on the spot until the fit is perfect. You do not need to move your boat.

Why Marine-Grade Fabric Matters in Singapore

Singapore sits one degree north of the equator. This means your boat canvas faces conditions that would destroy standard outdoor fabric within months.

Factor Singapore Condition What It Does to Canvas
UV Exposure UV index 10-14, 12 hours daylight year-round Fades and weakens non-UV-resistant fabric in 6-12 months
Humidity 80-90% average relative humidity Promotes mould and mildew growth on organic and untreated fabrics
Salt Spray Constant exposure in marina and underway Corrodes metal hardware, weakens untreated thread
Tropical Rain 2,340mm annual rainfall, heavy downpours Water pooling on poorly-designed covers causes sagging and tearing
Temperature 28-34°C year-round PVC clear panels yellow faster in sustained heat

This is why we exclusively use Sunbrella marine acrylic for coloured panels and Strataglass or Achilles PVC for clear windows. These materials are engineered specifically for marine environments and carry manufacturer warranties against UV degradation. Cheap polyester canvas from generic suppliers will look tired within one Singapore monsoon season.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does custom boat canvas cost in Singapore?
Custom boat canvas in Singapore costs $500 to $5,000 depending on the cover type and boat size. A bimini top replacement starts from $800. Full mooring covers for 30-40 foot boats range from $2,000 to $4,000. Cockpit covers start from $1,200. All prices include measurement, fabrication, and installation at your marina berth.
What fabric do you use for boat canvas?
We primarily use Sunbrella marine-grade acrylic, the global industry standard for boat canvas. Sunbrella is solution-dyed for permanent colour, UV resistant, and mould and mildew proof. For clear enclosure windows, we use Strataglass or Achilles marine-grade PVC film rated for tropical UV exposure.
How long does boat canvas fabrication take?
Standard fabrication takes 14 to 21 working days from measurement to installation. Simple replacements using existing frames may be completed in 7 to 10 days. Complex full-enclosure projects with multiple clear panels and zip entries may take up to 28 days.
Do you come to the marina for measurement?
Yes. We visit your boat at its berth for precise measurement. We service all Singapore marinas including ONE15 Marina Sentosa Cove, Raffles Marina, Republic of Singapore Yacht Club, Marina at Keppel Bay, and Changi Sailing Club. The measurement visit is free with no obligation.
Can you replace just the canvas on my existing bimini frame?
Yes. If your existing stainless steel or aluminium frame is structurally sound, we fabricate new canvas to fit the existing hardware. This typically costs 40-60% less than a full frame-and-canvas replacement. We inspect the frame during our marina visit and advise honestly if it can be reused or needs replacement.
